PROBLEM OF HOSTILE TAKEOVER (RAIDER CAPTURE) OF SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESSES IN RUSSIA

Background. Over the past two decades, raiding has become a serious threat to the economic security of modern business, economic stability and national security of Russia. The problem of counteracting unfriendly takeover (raider seizure) and maintaining their property is becoming increasingly important for enterprises. The purpose of the study is to review the practice of hostile takeover of small and medium-sized enterprises in Russia, including causes, types, methods and consequences.
Materials and methods. The goal of the study was achieved through the following scientific methods: formal-logical method (study of publications of specialists); statistical method (study of official materials of the Federal State Statistics Service); comparative analysis (analysis of types, features, methods and consequences of modern raiding).
Results. The main areas of activity that are most susceptible to raider attacks are studied; identified types, features and methods of modern raiding; identified weaknesses of the enterprise and the main reasons for the possible seizure of property.
Conclusions. The owners of enterprises should identify some measures that counteract the threat of raider attacks: it is necessary to analyze the potential causes of raider seizures within the company, monitor competitors in their area of operation, study the applicable schemes, raiding tools, create effective risk management services, etc.
